THE BEGINNING

Musk, born on June 28, 1971, had identified his strengths and preferences early on. At the age of 10, he realized he had an inclination for computing. At the age of 12, he sold his maiden code for a BASIC -based video game Blastar that he had created to a magazine called PC and Office Technology for about US$500.

In 1990, when he was 19, Musk attended Queen's University for his undergraduate study. In 1992, he shifted to the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics. In 1994, he secured a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Wharton School of Business. Musk short-stopped his plans of pursuing a PhD in applied physics from Stanford University in 1995 and went on to pursue his entrepreneurial aspirations.
